So come on in and let’s “decorate” for a while. Things are far from perfect here, but that’s where the real beauty lies....finding contentment just in the “now”.Elliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15645436282649157852noreply@blogger.comBlogger311125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1834944395695960296.post-84455848852443520362015-02-19T18:37:00.000-08:002015-02-19T18:42:19.281-08:00How to Remove Ugly Marks From Your Dishes<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">About 8 months ago I splurged </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">and ordered some new dishes. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sadly, they now look like this</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JzsCgx98Mac/VOac_978F_I/AAAAAAAAHaU/F94_ECT8ykA/s1600/150219b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JzsCgx98Mac/VOac_978F_I/AAAAAAAAHaU/F94_ECT8ykA/s1600/150219b.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I remembered reading a tip long ago about using </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Bar Keepers Friend to remove the marks. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It was certainly worth a try.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You can get it at WalMart. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">At first it didn't work so well for me. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I was using a cloth and it seemed like the progress was slow. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I discovered that if I used my fingertips with just a </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">small amount of water I got much better results. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Maybe everyone already knew this but me, </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">but just in case - I thought I'd share since </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Nothing says "Be My Valentine" like chocolate, especially warm, gooey, molten chocolate. Here is my easy version of this delectable dessert that is every bit as good as a restaurants.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jVJ-VXqIDSE/VN5bfPPc7iI/AAAAAAAAHYQ/5PJS3TQtC8Q/s1600/150213c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jVJ-VXqIDSE/VN5bfPPc7iI/AAAAAAAAHYQ/5PJS3TQtC8Q/s1600/150213c.jpg" height="185" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The first step is to make a batch of truffles, which is so much easier than you ever imagined. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I double Martha Stewart's recipe, found <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/285709/chocolate-truffles">here</a>. </span></div>
<div class="col1">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you decide to go ahead and make some truffles, click on that link and you'll see the complete instructions. I omitted steps 3 and 4 for this recipe. Also, you can make the truffles with chocolate chips, just know that the chips most likely will not melt all the way. After you've let the mixture stand for 10 minutes, you can microwave in 15 second intervals to melt them completely, probably not more than 30-45 seconds total. You don't want your beautiful chocolate to seize. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;">Lavender Tub Tip: This truffle recipe is the same thing as Ganache. You can make it before you sit down to your meal, and simply serve it as a dip with strawberries, cookies, pretzels, etc. for your dessert. However, if you want molten cake, read on. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You will also need:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Chocolate Cake</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Magic Shell Topping </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Vanilla Ice Cream - I think the flecks in the Vanilla Bean look pretty with this. Make scoops ahead of time and keep in the freezer for easier assembly at presentation time</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It is completely up to you whether you want to bake chocolate cake or simply purchase one. The shape and size really depends on you. For this post, I baked a cake mix in 2 small loaf pans. I wanted to make desserts large enough to share with my Valentine, but you could also do them as individual servings by using cupcakes.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-87LmtozXfJ4/VN5bkCL-tFI/AAAAAAAAHYY/Rnno9ng7r9M/s1600/150213a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-87LmtozXfJ4/VN5bkCL-tFI/AAAAAAAAHYY/Rnno9ng7r9M/s1600/150213a.jpg" height="260" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut a 1/2" slice off the top of the cake and set it aside. Using a spoon, scoop out a small trough to contain the melted chocolate. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xZX0mwx-iko/VN5bnC7W_sI/AAAAAAAAHYg/WJPePPJZmUk/s1600/150213b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xZX0mwx-iko/VN5bnC7W_sI/AAAAAAAAHYg/WJPePPJZmUk/s1600/150213b.jpg" height="260" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Using a small scoop or spoon, fill the trough with the truffle mixture. Replace the lid of the cake, and microwave for 60-90 seconds until all of the truffle chocolate is melted. Slightly press the lid of the cake down in order to help ease the melted chocolate into the cake. This also creates a small bed to hold the ice cream.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Top the cake with ice cream, and garnish with the Magic Shell. Serve and Enjoy!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Have you been trying to think of a nice dinner for Valentine's Day, but the thought of going out is ridiculous - and who wants to cook all day?</i> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I mean seriously! I was watching Rachel Ray today and she was making an upscaled version of Eggs Benedict. She had a pan going with leeks and garlic to which spinach was added. She had a pan for homemade Bechamel sauce, another for poaching eggs, and she had 4 different containers to bread and fry the eggplant for the dish. I love you, Rachel Ray, but if that's what it takes to be romantic - no thanks!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's an idea that requires only a little cooking, but it's so yummy you'll be glad you stayed in. The secret: fresh from scratch Alfredo sauce that only takes about 6 minutes to make.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iRM9-nowq6w/VN1iwHab_iI/AAAAAAAAHXU/l26sRXecCcQ/s1600/150212b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iRM9-nowq6w/VN1iwHab_iI/AAAAAAAAHXU/l26sRXecCcQ/s1600/150212b.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Alfredo sauce from a jar is just plain blechy to me. For a long time I tried to make Alfredo sauce, but it never turned out. It was always globby or rubbery. This recipe is the result of my many trials, and if you follow it precisely, you should end up with a delicious, smooth, creamy Alfredo sauce.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Ingredients:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 Stick of Butter</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 Cup Heavy Cream</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2 Cups finely shredded Parmesan from a wedge </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Pinch of Garlic Powder</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Finely shred a wedge of Parmesan cheese until you have two cups. This is one of the very important steps, and the only slightly labor intensive part of this entire meal. <span style="color: #990000;"><i>If you want good results the Parmesan must be freshly shredded. You do not want any of the shreds from the store.</i></span> You can shred it earlier in the day, just be sure to keep it well sealed so it doesn't dry out.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Melt a stick of butter (not margarine) in a sauce pan on med/low. You only want the butter melted, but not browned at all.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-74SHIaH7jJI/VN1iy4Dvz-I/AAAAAAAAHXc/8dpXgS0gaBs/s1600/150212e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-74SHIaH7jJI/VN1iy4Dvz-I/AAAAAAAAHXc/8dpXgS0gaBs/s1600/150212e.jpg" height="283" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Add a cup of heavy cream (yes, heavy - you want this to be yummy, right?). Stir frequently with a whisk until the cream and butter starts to bubble along the edges. The idea is to have a hot liquid, but not boiling. By the way, the black whisk I'm using is Pampered Chef, but from a long time ago. I don't know where to get another like it, but it is such a great tool.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZEjDMxanzcg/VN1i1LZ6nDI/AAAAAAAAHXk/iEounUg3lTk/s1600/150212d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZEjDMxanzcg/VN1i1LZ6nDI/AAAAAAAAHXk/iEounUg3lTk/s1600/150212d.jpg" height="328" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Now for the second really important step: <i><span style="color: #990000;"> Once the cream/butter is bubbling on the edges, take it off the heat and start whisking in the shredded Parmesan. Keep whisking until all the of the Parmesan has melted completely. It is important to remove it from the heat, because that is what keeps it from getting overcooked and rubbery.</span></i> Add the garlic powder, and that's it! Serve immediately.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-92EGRbJXWPc/VN1i5KHm_3I/AAAAAAAAHXs/2tIk2BuaD_M/s1600/150212c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-92EGRbJXWPc/VN1i5KHm_3I/AAAAAAAAHXs/2tIk2BuaD_M/s1600/150212c.jpg" height="336" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">For Valentine's Day, I purchase precooked chicken, shrimp, salmon, etc. I boil some pasta ahead of time, rinse in cold water, drain well, and store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. When it is time for dinner, I put meat on each plate and cover it with the pasta. I think doing it this way helps the meat not dry out as much in the microwave. When the meat and pasta are warmed, I rearrange the meat to the top and cover everything with the freshly made Alfredo sauce. Serve with a salad, and you have a lovely, romantic meal. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3tbF282wjo/VN1i_BCiSAI/AAAAAAAAHX0/vaCg-vpoYLU/s1600/150212a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3tbF282wjo/VN1i_BCiSAI/AAAAAAAAHX0/vaCg-vpoYLU/s1600/150212a.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;">Lavender Tub Tip: If you have leftover sauce, reheat it in a pan over low heat. If you microwave or heat it too high, the butter will separate out of it. Likewise, if your sauce gets too cold while you're heating your Valentine meal, just gently rewarm it, stirring constantly. You don't want the Parmesan to overcook.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;">Lavender Tub Tip: You can also have several things ready ahead of time like chicken fingers, pieces of bread, potato wedges, cooked ziti pasta.....anything that would be fun to dip - and just make this a finger food meal. Once the Alfredo is ready, dinner is served! </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Please let me know how yours turns out, if you try this. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And do come back tomorrow! </span></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J0T9tYkqI9I/VM2pPvHeClI/AAAAAAAAHOA/4fTxiBxjBQU/s1600/150131d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J0T9tYkqI9I/VM2pPvHeClI/AAAAAAAAHOA/4fTxiBxjBQU/s1600/150131d.jpg" height="400" width="330" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The $ Tree currently has
some super cute Valentines Day items, like these stickers. I wasn't
sure what I wanted to use them for, but I knew I really needed to think
of something.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kMdmvbTaDxE/VM2pW2zcdUI/AAAAAAAAHOI/u7xB6Jcwm0Q/s1600/150131c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kMdmvbTaDxE/VM2pW2zcdUI/AAAAAAAAHOI/u7xB6Jcwm0Q/s1600/150131c.jpg" height="307" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I
tested and found they stick quite well to metal washers (I like the
ones just slightly larger than the sticker), and metal washers stick
quite well to magnets. <i>Voila!</i> Cute Valentine magnets.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-44tG4z5OpwY/VM2rqJcSZKI/AAAAAAAAHOk/gfEnru-6T8A/s1600/150131e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-44tG4z5OpwY/VM2rqJcSZKI/AAAAAAAAHOk/gfEnru-6T8A/s1600/150131e.jpg" height="200" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I
also checked to see if magnets would stick to the fake metal trays at
the $ Tree, and they do! This is great, because I am in need of
something to hold a recipe while I'm baking. With the not-so-pretty
conduit running under the kitchen cabinets of my 1929 home, I can cover
some ugly and create function by attaching the tray to it with
magnets. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3p4TJx0sEMY/VM2parbCRHI/AAAAAAAAHOQ/_Ka4HuHC8dQ/s1600/150131b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3p4TJx0sEMY/VM2parbCRHI/AAAAAAAAHOQ/_Ka4HuHC8dQ/s1600/150131b.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I
plan to paint mine antique white, but I wanted to share it this way in
case anyone needs an inexpensive idea for a Sunday School or Daycare
project. With several kids sharing one sheet of stickers, plus the
cost of a washer, magnet, and tray - the holders could be made for about
$1.25 each. I think some mommies and grammies would think this was
a sweet gift to hold a recipe or picture. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Don't you think these are darling stickers?</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>What ideas do you have for them.....I'd love to hear.</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-grIgE4_pywU/VMxiTGqfSPI/AAAAAAAAHNo/0Nlwhu66n0E/s1600/150130a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-grIgE4_pywU/VMxiTGqfSPI/AAAAAAAAHNo/0Nlwhu66n0E/s1600/150130a.jpg" height="400" width="286" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> <span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Peanut brittle can be a tricky candy to make. If you don't cook it long enough, it is so gooey it can almost pull your teeth out. If you overcook it, the sugar and peanuts burn and it tastes awful. I think most people just purchase peanut brittle when they are hungry for it, rather than go through all that hassle.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">But what if you could make it hassle free? My mom had a great microwave recipe that turned out perfect peanut brittle every time - for her. For me.......not so much. As the years have passed, microwave times and temps have changed, and so her recipe did not work with modern models. I'm happy to say that after many trial and error batches - I can share a recipe that I think will give you wonderful results each time you make it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I use a large, 8 Cup, heavy, glass bowl to cook my peanut brittle. It gets very hot and it is helpful to see the color, so I would recommend something similar.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 Cup Granulated White Sugar</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1/8 tsp. Salt</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1/2 Cup Light Corn Syrup</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 Cup Raw Peanuts</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 tsp. Butter</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 tsp. Vanilla</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 tsp. Baking Soda</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Butter a baking sheet and set aside. Mix together the white sugar, salt, and light corn syrup. Microwave on High for 2 minutes. (All the microwave times are on High.) Stir in the cup of peanuts, then microwave for 3 minutes. Stir in the butter and vanilla, and microwave on 1 1/2 minutes; stir, then microwave for 1 additional minute. Add the teaspoon of baking soda and GENTLY stir until light and foamy. Immediately pour the mixture onto the greased baking sheet and quickly spread it a bit. Let it cool completely, then break it apart. The back of a soup spoon does a nice job for breaking.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Think you want to try this recipe? It turns out so yummy, and there are no candy thermometers, no endless stirring on the stove top, no plunging spoons into cold water........and no guesswork. It's such delicious peanut brittle, I know you're going to want to make it for more holidays than just Christmas.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Several years ago I started this blog, <span style="color: purple;"><i>The Lavender Tub.</i></span> I didn't think of myself as a blogger, or really a person that anyone would find interesting enough to follow; I just wanted a place to share some recipes and other "how to" ideas. An insatiable desire to learn and try new things, combined with homemaking skills learned from my stay-at-home mom put me in a position of being a resource for some of my younger friends. It made sense to have a public place to publish information that I seemed to share over and over again.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bM8XSFbGrqU/VMHeJZdSUkI/AAAAAAAAHC4/_dEjyWYO9Z0/s1600/Lavendertubcollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bM8XSFbGrqU/VMHeJZdSUkI/AAAAAAAAHC4/_dEjyWYO9Z0/s1600/Lavendertubcollage.jpg" height="147" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">As time went on, however, <i><span style="color: purple;">The Lavender Tub</span></i> became a place of therapy for me. The death of my remaining parent (both to cancer), a job loss for my husband that lasted two full years, learning of the lengthy abuse of some children I love - which sent me into counseling to deal with issues from my own past - were all so difficult and wounding. There were wonderful events that greatly eclipsed those painful things - my daughter gave birth to the two, most beautiful children on the planet, my hubby eventually found work and then became a partner in his CPA firm, my boys acclimated to public school from homeschool very successfully, and I even stumbled upon a little business that keeps me in some spending money. Still, the hurt could be so heavy at times. This blog has been a lovely escape for me as I've worked on those hurts. When I was emotionally unable to reach out the way I once did, I found I could still blog and share ideas that might help someone. I could get lost in editing pictures, and learn new techniques as I worked. I could even find a calming joy in remaking a piece of outdated, undesirable furniture into something that is pretty and quite useful for our home. It made me feel like I was<i> Painting Beauty From My Ashes, </i>and healing happened. I wouldn't say I'm 100%, but I'm certainly in a better place than I was.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TuFjhpXWIag/VMHegsdneGI/AAAAAAAAHDA/gm-b3xOP6xI/s1600/DSC_2354.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TuFjhpXWIag/VMHegsdneGI/AAAAAAAAHDA/gm-b3xOP6xI/s1600/DSC_2354.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Since I didn't realize I was starting a real blog when I began <i><span style="color: purple;">The Lavender Tub</span></i>, I made choices in my set up that locked this blog into formats and styles I am unable to change without undesirable consequences. Honestly, I'm kind of eager for something fresh that can evolve as my skills change, and as I learn more about how to be a blogger. For those reasons, I've decided to start a 2nd blog, <i><b> </b></i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PZAppG2pPOQ/VMHhtc_oE3I/AAAAAAAAHDY/VtEs8bR7o7c/s1600/Title%2Bframef.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PZAppG2pPOQ/VMHhtc_oE3I/AAAAAAAAHDY/VtEs8bR7o7c/s1600/Title%2Bframef.png" height="206" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I don't think I will abandon <i><span style="color: purple;">The Lavender Tub</span></i>, for it is dear to me - mistakes and all. I just wish to have a place to present better pictures with a cleaner format for some of what I blog about. <i>But then again - you just never know!</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qJtsMP2Ryp8/VLhrrVsEjfI/AAAAAAAAGvc/Gc5LLZsEnmM/s1600/150115a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qJtsMP2Ryp8/VLhrrVsEjfI/AAAAAAAAGvc/Gc5LLZsEnmM/s1600/150115a.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I honestly can't believe I've never shared this recipe on the blog before, because it is one of my most requested recipes </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">- for 2 reasons:</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /> #1 It really is one of the best cheese ball </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">recipes around</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">and </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> #2 Family members can't seem to find their </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> copies of the recipe at Christmas time!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The conversation always goes, <i>"Hey, I just did a search on </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>your blog......and I can't find The Cheese Ball Recipe......</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So, if for no one but my family - <i>Here It Is!</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1 pound Cheddar Cheese, shredded</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2 - 8 oz. packages Cream Cheese, room temp is best</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2 tsp. Garlic Powder</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1/4 - 1/2 Cup Mayo (I lean toward the 1/4 Cup)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Chopped Pecans (about 1/2 Cup)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Chili Powder</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Combine the cheeses, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and mayo. Mix well with your hands. Shape into a ball, Christmas tree, heart, log, or whatever your mood dictates.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">On a piece of plastic wrap spread the pecans and sprinkle chili powder over them. (You can mix some pecans into the cheese mixture, but I just coat the cheese ball with them in case someone does not like pecans.) Now, just roll the cheese ball around on the pecans and chili powder until it is completely coated. I usually finish off with some extra chili powder.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5wsdVLG-c0I/VLhrum6E5CI/AAAAAAAAGvk/M-nyXxUY9IA/s1600/150115b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5wsdVLG-c0I/VLhrum6E5CI/AAAAAAAAGvk/M-nyXxUY9IA/s1600/150115b.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: purple;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Lavender Tub Tip:</i> I hang on to the plastic wrap with the pecans and chili powder. If the cheese ball is not consumed in one sitting, I can always reshape and roll it again. Sometimes I use the leftover cheese ball in a pan of enchilada casserole - just break it into small pieces and use in place of the shredded cheese. It tastes wonderful.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lastly, if you are watching your carbs, this makes a super yummy treat when eaten with almonds. It really hits the spot when you need something snacky.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope your family enjoys this recipe as much as ours does! At least my family can all pull it up on our phones now!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">They put Christmas stuff out so early - </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">who can help themselves?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Truthfully, I think one of the reasons I'm so excited is I get to add a 2nd sweet grand baby's face to my tree. I didn't used to decorate much with those kinds of ornaments, but when you have grand babies as cute as mine - <i>it's a must!</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>See what I mean?</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>This handsome man joined our</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>family in July of this year. </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is a quick, little tutorial to help you get a nicely cropped, quality picture that will look great in your ornament, piece of jewelry, or tiny frame:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Go to <a href="http://picmonkey.com/"><i>PicMonkey.com</i></a> and click the <span style="color: red;"><i>Edit</i></span> button. (PicMonkey is a photo editing site that has tons of cool edits for FREE!) When you click <span style="color: red;"><i>Edit</i></span>, places you store pictures on your computer will pop up, and you just need to select the picture you wish to edit.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Once you have your picture pulled up in <i>PicMonkey</i>, click the <i><span style="color: red;">Crop</span></i> button on the left.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--qKFN_hq_rk/VEl-6g9ys4I/AAAAAAAAGuE/qbgFO-Am-oU/s1600/141023a.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--qKFN_hq_rk/VEl-6g9ys4I/AAAAAAAAGuE/qbgFO-Am-oU/s1600/141023a.JPG" height="187" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Within the <span style="color: red;"><i>Crop</i></span> function, you will click on the little <span style="color: red;"><i>drop-down menu</i></span> and select "how" you wish to crop your picture. For my application I'm choosing a <span style="color: red;"><i>Square</i></span>. As soon as you click <i><span style="color: red;">Square</span></i> - a square highlight will pop up on your picture. You can now drag this anywhere on your picture to frame what you want included in the crop. You can also adjust the size by grabbing one of the corners and sliding it. When you are happy with the size and position, Click <span style="color: red;"><i>Apply</i></span>.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-62qnApSKOZ0/VEl_BIVDW-I/AAAAAAAAGuM/Gb4iu6Go6c0/s1600/141023b.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-62qnApSKOZ0/VEl_BIVDW-I/AAAAAAAAGuM/Gb4iu6Go6c0/s1600/141023b.JPG" height="197" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This will leave you with a wonderfully squared picture. All you need to do now is <span style="color: red;"><i>Save</i></span> it back to your computer with a new name.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-76JquPNm8Wc/VEl_HI3yTvI/AAAAAAAAGuU/obpaSvoDoJ8/s1600/141023c.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-76JquPNm8Wc/VEl_HI3yTvI/AAAAAAAAGuU/obpaSvoDoJ8/s1600/141023c.JPG" height="191" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To print the picture, open <span style="color: blue;"><i>Word</i></span> (or some other word processing software), and create a <i>New Document</i>. Click on <span style="color: red;"><i>Insert</i></span>, then select <i><span style="color: red;">Picture</span></i> - and choose your newly created picture from where you stored it on your computer. When you hit <span style="color: red;"><i>Enter</i></span>, your picture will appear in the document. The last step is to go over to the right of your screen and enter the dimensions you need your picture to be. If it is an inch - use 1.0 If a half inch - then .5 All that is left is to <i><span style="color: red;">print</span></i> your picture and <i><span style="color: red;">cut</span></i> it out!</span></div>

<i><span style="font-size: large;">Wasn't that easy?</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you need a circle for your ornament or jewelry - I made a tutorial for that <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2013/03/circle-cropping-for-crafts.html"><i>here</i></a>.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">One day this past spring I heard quite a commotion in my yard. When I went to investigate, I found dozens and dozens of birds squawking and carrying on. It really was kind of like a scene from <i>The Birds</i>, and kind of gave me the<i> eebie jeebies.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzf4dLd5cAc/VCtuT3q5fUI/AAAAAAAAGts/bnsXJ_NnUKk/s1600/IMG_1001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzf4dLd5cAc/VCtuT3q5fUI/AAAAAAAAGts/bnsXJ_NnUKk/s1600/IMG_1001.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I'm much more about pretty fall decorations this time of year than all the gory stuff, but there is something kind of enticing about old, creepy houses. When I saw this image on The Graphics Fairy's site - I thought it would be fun to marry it with my bird picture to make a spooky Welcome sign. To see this image on her site, go <a href="http://http//thegraphicsfairy.com/vintage-halloween-image-iron-gate/"><i>here.</i></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I took the color out of my bird picture and heightened the contrast quite a bit. Then I overlapped it onto the Graphics Fairy image, and finally added some texture.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You're welcome to print one for yourself, if you like. And please stop by anytime - pay no attention to my little welcoming party at the front gate. <i>I think they'll let you enter...... </i></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Yesterday I shared my fall mantel <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2014/09/fall-mantel.html">here</a> on the blog with a little teaser that I had a confession to make.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sFJuV4GQKG0/VCjKKY60izI/AAAAAAAAGss/Wyn0IH1VmrY/s1600/140927e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sFJuV4GQKG0/VCjKKY60izI/AAAAAAAAGss/Wyn0IH1VmrY/s1600/140927e.jpg" height="640" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I've said in the past that nothing in my house is that valuable; therefore nothing is really sacred. So, when I noticed that the feet of the ottoman I am currently reupholstering would make great pumpkins - well, off they came.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zoD0B_qxs-o/VCjKJ79dBlI/AAAAAAAAGso/g5sLNptZPSk/s1600/140928b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zoD0B_qxs-o/VCjKJ79dBlI/AAAAAAAAGso/g5sLNptZPSk/s1600/140928b.jpg" height="270" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">They are just perfect with these candlesticks. I get bored decorating with candles, so these feet made me happy - and they gave Edward a good laugh when he realized what they were.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WV2DYsYgXlQ/VCjKRUx_RDI/AAAAAAAAGs4/q4xRQt_byuA/s1600/140928c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WV2DYsYgXlQ/VCjKRUx_RDI/AAAAAAAAGs4/q4xRQt_byuA/s1600/140928c.jpg" height="640" width="346" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Luckily, I had a spare set of feet in the garage, so the poor ottoman can still stand tall. Don't you just love them as pumpkins, though? They're such a great color.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Yesterday, I shared how I'm trying to simplify my decorating as the seasons change. I don't want to spend days decorating for a particular season, because there are so many other things I want to do instead.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Except for the mantel!</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This is my fun space. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">My let's-get-creative-and-do-something-totally-new space.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3ZciJ42FBg/VCdrXpe1obI/AAAAAAAAGro/4VUufp4cW0c/s1600/140927b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3ZciJ42FBg/VCdrXpe1obI/AAAAAAAAGro/4VUufp4cW0c/s1600/140927b.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">My favorite thing in the world with decorating is to take something that is totally junk, and make it at home with lovely, pleasant little things. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">(I have some rusty furniture springs I really, really wanted to incorporate - but they just weren't working.....at least not yet.) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Our home is pretty formal by nature, but we are not. I guess adding a little junk is my way of not taking this house, or decorating, or myself too seriously.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EPBQ5X5f55Y/VCdrf71ZSFI/AAAAAAAAGrw/39fCux_TOJA/s1600/140927c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EPBQ5X5f55Y/VCdrf71ZSFI/AAAAAAAAGrw/39fCux_TOJA/s1600/140927c.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I can't say my dear husband is as enthusiastic about the cast-offs as I am, but it has become a source of intrigue and humor for him.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GDSIPx1wdeI/VCdrwoni6oI/AAAAAAAAGr4/zZ3HMce0z94/s1600/240927d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GDSIPx1wdeI/VCdrwoni6oI/AAAAAAAAGr4/zZ3HMce0z94/s1600/240927d.jpg" height="400" width="326" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I bought this picture for the frame, but the painting is so perfect for this time of year. Isn't it pretty? </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--3_NrEb19qA/VCdr4kJCb6I/AAAAAAAAGsA/BuC9uxHXpDk/s1600/140927a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--3_NrEb19qA/VCdr4kJCb6I/AAAAAAAAGsA/BuC9uxHXpDk/s1600/140927a.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In the 2nd picture above if you look at the bottom of the large frame, it is damaged and most of the ornamentation is missing. However, it is quite old - and I love its character!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98duqme9fGk/VCdsF8EOAHI/AAAAAAAAGsY/oc_Rh9xocoI/s1600/140927e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98duqme9fGk/VCdsF8EOAHI/AAAAAAAAGsY/oc_Rh9xocoI/s1600/140927e.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have a crazy little confession about this vignette. If you come back tomorrow, I'll tell you what it is! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><i>I Looooove to decorate.</i> I do! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Especially for all the different seasons. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sZAv-b-vCZM/VCXODn10smI/AAAAAAAAGq8/r-EHvwyUdAw/s1600/140925g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sZAv-b-vCZM/VCXODn10smI/AAAAAAAAGq8/r-EHvwyUdAw/s1600/140925g.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">However, I'm learning that my decorating style is simplifying and changing. I find that I'm not as interested in spending an entire week getting out the new season's decor and packing up the previous season to stack in the garage. I seem to be migrating towards things I can change up in short time that still look fantastic for the season. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I4WMlF1ZP4M/VCXNm8UO4DI/AAAAAAAAGqU/xn1fECePBmE/s1600/140925b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I4WMlF1ZP4M/VCXNm8UO4DI/AAAAAAAAGqU/xn1fECePBmE/s1600/140925b.jpg" height="253" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">One reason I've been posting about apothecary jars/cloches of late, see <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2014/08/crystal-lamp-upcycle-to-apothecary-jar.html">here</a>, <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2014/08/glass-knobs-to-create-apothecary-jars.html">here</a>, and <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2014/09/display-pedestal-made-from-old-lamp-base.html">here</a>, is because it's a great way to pull off this simplified approach.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8ITdNPxmjvo/VCXNsdsFcSI/AAAAAAAAGqc/N9WiVU3UXag/s1600/140925c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8ITdNPxmjvo/VCXNsdsFcSI/AAAAAAAAGqc/N9WiVU3UXag/s1600/140925c.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">By gathering and making a very eclectic collection of glass displays, I can update my decor for the season just by changing what's inside.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TASPaOBQBbA/VCXNx4Ml6lI/AAAAAAAAGqk/Tz_VwId9W38/s1600/140924c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TASPaOBQBbA/VCXNx4Ml6lI/AAAAAAAAGqk/Tz_VwId9W38/s1600/140924c.jpg" height="400" width="236" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's fun, too, because if I don't have enough variety for all the different displays, I can just walk around my yard and pull a bit of what's happening outside - <i>inside.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rXKS1gOosnE/VCXN802ZgHI/AAAAAAAAGqs/isTP9JsesUI/s1600/140925d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rXKS1gOosnE/VCXN802ZgHI/AAAAAAAAGqs/isTP9JsesUI/s1600/140925d.jpg" height="400" width="267" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I think it keeps the decorating a little fresher as I'm not just getting out all the same stuff I've used year after year.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cMLo8N0MWSE/VCXN-XjzB_I/AAAAAAAAGq0/i83maOBeFpQ/s1600/140925e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cMLo8N0MWSE/VCXN-XjzB_I/AAAAAAAAGq0/i83maOBeFpQ/s1600/140925e.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Of course I have favorite pieces I want to hang on to and continue to use, but it does force some new and interesting combinations.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yUcjJHG3Hj0/VCXOLN9zV7I/AAAAAAAAGrE/V2WXBSGACjo/s1600/140925f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yUcjJHG3Hj0/VCXOLN9zV7I/AAAAAAAAGrE/V2WXBSGACjo/s1600/140925f.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And should I decide to have some friends over for a little tea, I can replace a few decor items with some cookies or cupcakes, keep some of the decor in place - and have a special little dessert buffet.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6kjLSMqMPWM/VCXOOg5D0CI/AAAAAAAAGrM/6lWKobdp86c/s1600/140925a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6kjLSMqMPWM/VCXOOg5D0CI/AAAAAAAAGrM/6lWKobdp86c/s1600/140925a.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you decorate for the different holidays, do you like a simplified approach, or is part of the enjoyment spending several days getting your house all pretty?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g0qwd1h-Bak/VCXPg0fQ08I/AAAAAAAAGrY/ZFWzAYOWBm0/s1600/000.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g0qwd1h-Bak/VCXPg0fQ08I/AAAAAAAAGrY/ZFWzAYOWBm0/s1600/000.png" height="121" width="400" /></a><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">One of my favorite places to get beautiful decorative elements for new projects - <i>is from old lamps.</i> They are so available and overlooked, especially if they are broken in any way.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o4WVXJdjme0/VCOHE9ONSBI/AAAAAAAAGpk/-HffkUKseYs/s1600/140924.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o4WVXJdjme0/VCOHE9ONSBI/AAAAAAAAGpk/-HffkUKseYs/s1600/140924.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This lamp is not the newest fashion, but look at its pretty base and other individual components. Are they not gorgeous? I can't wait to use them.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NbQeL5SYzic/VCOHLBHOsoI/AAAAAAAAGps/DKUMgXD0D8M/s1600/140821e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NbQeL5SYzic/VCOHLBHOsoI/AAAAAAAAGps/DKUMgXD0D8M/s1600/140821e.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This glass sphere in my garden was once a hanging lamp. I found it at a yard sale for $1.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzYavbvbAzI/VCOHQb0dp-I/AAAAAAAAGp0/cAoRdpRDauA/s1600/140924b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzYavbvbAzI/VCOHQb0dp-I/AAAAAAAAGp0/cAoRdpRDauA/s1600/140924b.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lamps like this mantel lamp are not necessarily out of style, but they are inexpensive to start with. I think when people can afford to upgrade to something nicer - they do - and so many end up in the thrift pile. Yay for me, for if you take them apart and get rid of the metal tubing, you're left with a lovely little base. Glue a glass plate to that -</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-To5FH04QVsk/VCOHU-Pc9vI/AAAAAAAAGqE/add42SDk4XY/s1600/140924c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-To5FH04QVsk/VCOHU-Pc9vI/AAAAAAAAGqE/add42SDk4XY/s1600/140924c.jpg" height="640" width="378" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">- and get a darling little pedestal like this!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And if you need a cloche to go with it, </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">click <a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2014/08/glass-knobs-to-create-apothecary-jars.html">here</a> for a few ideas on how to make one.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Not bad for something you can often pick up </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">for a dollar or two.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It is so simple, you could actually run to the store, get anything you need, and still have dinner on the table in an hour-ish.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here are her instructions, or you can go to her link <a href="http://www.pauladeen.com/tastes-like-lasagna-soup">here</a>:</span><br />
<div class="detail-box ingredients">
<h3 class="title">
Ingredients</h3>
<ul>
<li>1 lb ground chuck</li>
<li>1 onion, chopped</li>
<li>1 green bell pepper, chopped</li>
<li>3 cloves garlic, minced</li>
<li>1 teaspoon thyme</li>
<li>1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar</li>
<li>1 (32 oz) box chicken broth</li>
<li>2 (14.5 oz) can petite diced tomatoes</li>
<li>1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce</li>
<li>2 teaspoon Italian seasoning</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon salt</li>
<li>2 cups broken lasagna noodles</li>
<li>1 (5 oz) package grated parmesan cheese and more for serving</li>
<li>2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese</li>
<li>1 thin French baguette</li>
<li>1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil</li>
<li>2 cloves smashed garlic</li>
</ul>
</div>
<h3 class="title">
Preparation </h3>
In a large Dutch oven, combine ground chuck, onion, bell pepper and
garlic. Cook over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring
occasionally until beef is browned and crumbles. Drain well.<br />
<br />
Stir in thyme, brown sugar, broth, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce,
Italian seasoning, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat;
reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Add noodles, and simmer until noodles
are tender. Stir in Parmesan cheese.<br />
<br />
Preheat broiler. Ladle soup into 8 to 10 ovenproof bowls. Evenly
sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Broil soups, 6-inches from heat, 3 to 4
minutes, until cheese is browned and bubbly. Add a garlic crostini
slice on top. Serve immediately.<br />
<br />
For the garlic crostini:<br />
<br />
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.<br />
<br />
Cut bread into 1/4-inch round slices. Place on baking sheet and brush
each slice with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper; place in oven
and bake until golden and crisp, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and
let cool slightly. Rub each side with smashed garlic cloves.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;">The only things I do different from the recipe are:</span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> </span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> 1. I replace half of the ground beef with Italian </span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> sausage</span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> 2. I skip the bread/cheese melting bit. </span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> I like it better without that. </span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;"> 3. I omit the green pepper</span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Something I see often when I'm thrifting are plate racks designed to hold 3 or 4 plates. I don't know if people don't want to hang plates anymore, or if they have too many racks already, or if they don't like that particular style now. It just seems you can pick up some very pretty ones fairly inexpensively.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwFAxVbuE8M/VBZauD7NgvI/AAAAAAAAGow/1TnLnbV3VOc/s1600/platerack.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwFAxVbuE8M/VBZauD7NgvI/AAAAAAAAGow/1TnLnbV3VOc/s1600/platerack.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;">If plates aren't your thing, you could use them to display picture frames with pictures, or even make a jewelry hanger/memo board. Here is one idea:</span></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3qDrfFhhftc/VBZaGCCO5gI/AAAAAAAAGoA/B_0C-uV1sMI/s1600/140914e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3qDrfFhhftc/VBZaGCCO5gI/AAAAAAAAGoA/B_0C-uV1sMI/s1600/140914e.jpg" height="400" width="157" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I took 3 oval frames and painted them to match. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Then I covered cork with burlap, and put that inside the frames.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ano2fS4HW1c/VBZaKJZC96I/AAAAAAAAGoI/XlwsYQIZtEA/s1600/140914b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ano2fS4HW1c/VBZaKJZC96I/AAAAAAAAGoI/XlwsYQIZtEA/s1600/140914b.jpg" height="320" width="253" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To cut the cork the correct size, I placed a sheet of paper over the back opening of the frame, and did a pencil rubbing to create a pattern. I cut out the oval that appeared on my paper, and then placed that oval on my cork. By doing a second rubbing over the edges of the paper onto the cork, I could see exactly where I needed to cut the cork. It works best to cut slightly smaller than the line, and my kitchen shears worked great for the cutting.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W04uxaXpSCw/VBZaY6xygKI/AAAAAAAAGog/n-UJDWJh0jE/s1600/140914d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W04uxaXpSCw/VBZaY6xygKI/AAAAAAAAGog/n-UJDWJh0jE/s1600/140914d.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Elmer's Glue-All was perfect for gluing the burlap onto the cork. Just spread a nice even layer. You want enough to soak into the burlap and hold it, but not so much it oozes out the front of the burlap.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TwDhNVohvCw/VBZaQBQnAaI/AAAAAAAAGoQ/gNVckum0RT4/s1600/140914a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TwDhNVohvCw/VBZaQBQnAaI/AAAAAAAAGoQ/gNVckum0RT4/s1600/140914a.jpg" height="640" width="242" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">That's it! I know this is kind of a no-brainer craft, but thought someone might have a plate rack in their garage sale pile who would decide to hang onto it instead. I actually find lots of uses for these racks. Here is how I used this one before I changed it up:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A5rU_cGKzHQ/VBZaQfJmnvI/AAAAAAAAGoU/KvFaMXqsVnA/s1600/000.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A5rU_cGKzHQ/VBZaQfJmnvI/AAAAAAAAGoU/KvFaMXqsVnA/s1600/000.png" height="121" width="400" /></a></div>

<i><span style="font-size: large;">I bought an ugly picture, and I'm not even sure why.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cRkBhduoZCI/VBNsaIQb_hI/AAAAAAAAGm4/WbHN1eUvl_U/s1600/140912b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cRkBhduoZCI/VBNsaIQb_hI/AAAAAAAAGm4/WbHN1eUvl_U/s1600/140912b.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You see, I went to a junk sale at a super fun place called<i> </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>The Chicken Farm</i> in Jones, OK. To learn more about it and the dates of their sales - check them out <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheOldChickenFarm">here</a>. They are so cool!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SrC1uSh5ZXE/VBNuWfws3OI/AAAAAAAAGno/XTJp1rzgycU/s1600/10176179_1445602132351375_3072350610523188848_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SrC1uSh5ZXE/VBNuWfws3OI/AAAAAAAAGno/XTJp1rzgycU/s1600/10176179_1445602132351375_3072350610523188848_n.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Anyway.....</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">.....it was the end of the day and these two ladies were selling this picture. For some reason - they seemed to really want me to have it. <i>(Do I look like a jungle cat woman - or do they just know I'm a sucker for a good deal?)</i> They started reverse wheeling-n-dealing with me until the price was so low - who could pass it up? What the heck - I could paint the frame or something.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I stuck it on my Dining Room wall just to fill the space for a bit, and you know - it actually kind of grew on me. It started to look rather nice - imagining it without the brown mat and the cats.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I thought it would be fun to paint a mat with chalk board paint and write something like Eat, Pray, Love on it. However, the mat ended up such a gorgeous black - I chose not to mess it up with chalk.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also chose not to tear apart the mat and mess up the little gold frame embedded in it. Instead, I poked holes in each of the corners and glued a small power magnet in the hole. This allowed me to add a picture and hold in it place with metal of some sort.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PKeUdgfShlc/VBNsepMjbCI/AAAAAAAAGnA/jaxdvRR_yHA/s1600/140912a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PKeUdgfShlc/VBNsepMjbCI/AAAAAAAAGnA/jaxdvRR_yHA/s1600/140912a.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Isn't it pretty?</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fdeWnEpbqbA/VBNsl_c51nI/AAAAAAAAGnI/lMT46L6Apjs/s1600/140912f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fdeWnEpbqbA/VBNsl_c51nI/AAAAAAAAGnI/lMT46L6Apjs/s1600/140912f.jpg" height="336" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The best part - it is like <i>Picture, Picture from Mr. Rogers</i>. I can change the picture whenever I like.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is one I made for Fall. It is so elegant in my Dining Room - so much nicer than the jungle cats.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Thanks for talking me into it ladies - it really is my style. Hope to see you at the Chicken Farm again soon!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><i>You know those times when you think it would be fun to have your hubby tag along while you're Junkin' so you can spend some time together.......then you realize what a bad idea that is because you want to buy something, but he hates it......?</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Like this amazing, cool, just what you've been looking for sofa!</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A86poq2tnRc/VBJyGVnOQQI/AAAAAAAAGlo/rLxtvleWGXA/s1600/140911a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A86poq2tnRc/VBJyGVnOQQI/AAAAAAAAGlo/rLxtvleWGXA/s1600/140911a.jpg" height="285" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Only he thinks it costs too much (because any amount would be too much), and he hates Victorian because it doesn't fit our house (but he hates Victorian anyway), and it smells bad, and it is gold from the 70's with stains, and we have no place to put it anyway. </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><span style="color: purple;"><i>Why did I think this would be fun?</i></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">But then he says, <i>"Well, would you buy it if I wasn't here?" </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Did he really open that door?!!!</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;"><i>Want to see what I did with it.......?</i></span></span></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z9Qj45Qi4pI/VBJysdyULmI/AAAAAAAAGmQ/v0ZY-SWepbA/s1600/140911g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z9Qj45Qi4pI/VBJysdyULmI/AAAAAAAAGmQ/v0ZY-SWepbA/s1600/140911g.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KawTafA5Y8E/VBJyYvy9XII/AAAAAAAAGl4/I-QC0cv8aS4/s1600/140911c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KawTafA5Y8E/VBJyYvy9XII/AAAAAAAAGl4/I-QC0cv8aS4/s1600/140911c.jpg" height="640" width="392" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I know some may think I'm crazy for painting it, but that is really why I bought it. I am in no place to refinish something like this right now, but I did want to paint a piece of upholstered furniture with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - just to see how it turned out.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I read from several others who had tried it and were happy with the results. I guess I just had to know for myself.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">So, here are my thoughts:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. The coverage was fairly good, and I was painting with a </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> 50% water/50% paint mixture. I painted 2 coats for </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> better coverage. It covered the stains nicely, too.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GTix75pRvCo/VBJySdQha8I/AAAAAAAAGlw/54d3uyHeeHc/s1600/140911b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GTix75pRvCo/VBJySdQha8I/AAAAAAAAGlw/54d3uyHeeHc/s1600/140911b.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. The paint went pretty far. I think I used 1.5 cans for the </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> entire sofa.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. The fabric ended up stiffer than I hoped. I did put a nice </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> coat of clear wax on, and it now feels about like a leather </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> sofa. It is not as comfortable as it was when it was </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> fabric, but it sure looks and smells better. This is not our </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> TV watching sofa, but is in my little shop - so it is fine.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> The pattern sure looks pretty.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aQqDx7UAyok/VBJy6gR5RNI/AAAAAAAAGmg/rjQEGPu_RJY/s1600/140911h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aQqDx7UAyok/VBJy6gR5RNI/AAAAAAAAGmg/rjQEGPu_RJY/s1600/140911h.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">4. I read to spray the sofa with a mist of water before </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> you paint.....well, I did on part of it, but then forgot. I </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> couldn't really tell much difference.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">5. It did take a little longer than I expected, but I think all </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> projects do.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall I'm very pleased, and think it turned out quite pretty. It is not entirely the result I was hoping for softness wise, but it could not stay as it was. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hlMn0S_d4SA/VBJzACaaviI/AAAAAAAAGmo/T3KH_xkD_QI/s1600/140911d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hlMn0S_d4SA/VBJzACaaviI/AAAAAAAAGmo/T3KH_xkD_QI/s1600/140911d.jpg" height="385" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">So, what do you think? </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Could you let yourself paint a chair or sofa?</span></i></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I certainly would again! I just may have to leave Edward behind. I doubt I can drag another such beauty home with him in tow.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Would you like to carve some pumpkins that are personalized to your family? Here's an idea for making a pattern with a little help from <a href="http://www.picmonkey.com/">Picmonkey</a>.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tEo9QfWj4ik/VA_Zgau3i7I/AAAAAAAAGkY/k_V43qgTDqU/s1600/IMG_1226.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tEo9QfWj4ik/VA_Zgau3i7I/AAAAAAAAGkY/k_V43qgTDqU/s1600/IMG_1226.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Take or find a picture of the person you wish to carve on a pumpkin. I used this picture of my son wearing my sunglasses. (He will be so thrilled!)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G6Ko5X9rIh8/VA_Zja5OrHI/AAAAAAAAGkg/k1t3wr_EpuQ/s1600/hunter%2Bpumpkin2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G6Ko5X9rIh8/VA_Zja5OrHI/AAAAAAAAGkg/k1t3wr_EpuQ/s1600/hunter%2Bpumpkin2.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In the case of this picture, I cropped and edited out everything I didn't want in the background. To crop in Picmonkey, select the <i>top</i> icon on the left, and then choose CROP.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oxn8wk7TqI0/VA_Zn4fegRI/AAAAAAAAGko/qvlZwoEe26k/s1600/picmonkey3a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oxn8wk7TqI0/VA_Zn4fegRI/AAAAAAAAGko/qvlZwoEe26k/s1600/picmonkey3a.jpg" height="400" width="173" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To create the pumpkin pattern - select the <i>Magic Wand</i> icon on the left, and scroll down until you find POSTERIZE. You will only want to use 2 colors, and probably slide the Details Bar until you get the look you want.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vRIqsmYzyVc/VA_ZwEnS1RI/AAAAAAAAGk4/3hmVBh2gjbY/s1600/picmonkey2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vRIqsmYzyVc/VA_ZwEnS1RI/AAAAAAAAGk4/3hmVBh2gjbY/s1600/picmonkey2a.jpg" height="400" width="125" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You should get a picture that looks something like this! Isn't that cool?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4NuU9PMO2Es/VA_ZtXjT4NI/AAAAAAAAGkw/7keKVCXEeog/s1600/hunter%2Bpumpkin1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4NuU9PMO2Es/VA_ZtXjT4NI/AAAAAAAAGkw/7keKVCXEeog/s1600/hunter%2Bpumpkin1.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">All you need to do now is save your picture to your computer. To print the pattern - insert your saved picture into a <i>Word</i> document and adjust the size. Trace the design onto your pumpkin, and shave away all the white areas of the picture.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gRgxkukf9z0/VA_Z5kL5EYI/AAAAAAAAGlA/npje6ENCtR8/s1600/hunterpumpkin5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gRgxkukf9z0/VA_Z5kL5EYI/AAAAAAAAGlA/npje6ENCtR8/s1600/hunterpumpkin5.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This is just a mock-up, but it gives you an idea of what your carved pumpkin would look like.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Wouldn't it be fun to use pictures of your kids with crossed eyes or sticking out their tongues? Just remember to keep it simple, or you'll be carving forever and writing icky comments to me!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<span style="color: purple;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>Lavender Tub Tips:</i> When taking the pictures - try to use a plain white background with really good lighting. You want strong contrast in your pic. If it is not turning out the best on the POSTERIZE - you might need to play with it by going Black and White, or upping the contrast. Each picture I've tried has been a little different, so you might need to play with it a bit.</span></span><br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I put together a little Autumn printable. If you'd like to print it - just save it to your computer, open a Word document, insert the pic from your computer and then adjust the size to 8x10.</span></div>

<i><span style="font-size: large;">See this handsome kid?</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yrTCLlYWiXQ/VAKFONaqnKI/AAAAAAAAGh4/GPIiJi1fUok/s1600/140830d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yrTCLlYWiXQ/VAKFONaqnKI/AAAAAAAAGh4/GPIiJi1fUok/s1600/140830d.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Well......he is mine.</i> Would you believe this darned kid grew up, and we moved him to college about 2 weeks ago? <span style="color: orange;"><i>Honestly, this is the first I've been able to say anything about it because I've been kind of sad. No......I really, truly have.</i></span> But, I'm adjusting. Since he is living in a campus apartment and left his bedroom completely empty, we have been switching rooms around. <i>The silver lining</i> - <i>I now have </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>a studio of my own to put all my machines and messes in! Woot! Woot!</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span> <span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I'll show you pics of it when I get finished, but for today - I told you all of that so that I could get to this: I stole our big message board for my new studio - so now we need another for the family. LOL! Here is what I came up with:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-msaUl7nLQvE/VAKFTVxvNBI/AAAAAAAAGiA/qYHKyVD8_GE/s1600/140830a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-msaUl7nLQvE/VAKFTVxvNBI/AAAAAAAAGiA/qYHKyVD8_GE/s1600/140830a.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I took a frame, cut an old piece of white marker board to fit, turned it around, spray painted the back, glued a cork tile on the top, added chicken wire (for hooks and magnets), and..........<i>voila!</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AY1uZbUHm-I/VAKFX65JGXI/AAAAAAAAGiI/4iYW73lz4YA/s1600/140830b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AY1uZbUHm-I/VAKFX65JGXI/AAAAAAAAGiI/4iYW73lz4YA/s1600/140830b.jpg" height="400" width="245" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also added scrapbook paper painted with a chalk board medium (see my post <i><a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2012/11/patterned-chalkboards.html">here</a></i> to learn more) to the cork tile. It is only tacked on so I can change it with the seasons.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SPXDJsGV0Do/VAKFcGVz8gI/AAAAAAAAGiQ/SOhxZQoWcwQ/s1600/140830c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SPXDJsGV0Do/VAKFcGVz8gI/AAAAAAAAGiQ/SOhxZQoWcwQ/s1600/140830c.jpg" height="400" width="250" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Since it is smaller than the one I stole, I can put it in a more convenient place. I think everyone will see it here. <i> It works!</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BXyeavfAGBM/VAKFo589m7I/AAAAAAAAGiY/DEId2FFd3Jk/s1600/000.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BXyeavfAGBM/VAKFo589m7I/AAAAAAAAGiY/DEId2FFd3Jk/s1600/000.png" height="121" width="400" /></a></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I bet everyone has a thing or two in their home that has been hanging around for a while that they don't even realize how cool a treasure it is. For me one of those treasures is this old scale.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vTdfyGXYC-U/U__1y9I8OfI/AAAAAAAAGgQ/y5So0DSJrDY/s1600/140828b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vTdfyGXYC-U/U__1y9I8OfI/AAAAAAAAGgQ/y5So0DSJrDY/s1600/140828b.jpg" height="400" width="261" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Edward brought this to our marriage from his grandpa's shop. His grandfather used to sell his excess tomatoes and other vegetables to town folk, and he would use this scale to weigh them. Edward grew up playing with this scale all the time.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bcLFNixQbIo/U__15LqPG-I/AAAAAAAAGgY/FQTi5u3d02g/s1600/140828g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bcLFNixQbIo/U__15LqPG-I/AAAAAAAAGgY/FQTi5u3d02g/s1600/140828g.jpg" height="640" width="308" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We have always enjoyed its nostalgia, but I think we both thought Edward would refinish and paint it before it found a place in the house instead of the garage.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXzdt_EiYr4/U__1_pG-F1I/AAAAAAAAGgg/i1RibRvBULg/s1600/140828d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXzdt_EiYr4/U__1_pG-F1I/AAAAAAAAGgg/i1RibRvBULg/s1600/140828d.jpg" height="277" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">But things change and one day you realize, </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>It is completely perfect as it is!</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Just look at some of its interesting details:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It has had a special place by our back door for a couple of years now. I keep a wire basket on it, and it holds the things we need to remember as we leave the house.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I have a wonderful recipe for coffee punch that is always requested when I hostess a party. I've shared it on <span style="color: purple;"><i> </i></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;"><i>The Lavender Tub</i></span> before - if you'd like the recipe, you can find it <i><a href="http://thelavendertub.blogspot.com/2011/10/coffee-punch.html">here</a>.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Oo9Y96EPckM/U_6dOisA9vI/AAAAAAAAGfQ/ZyvUzuIVQF8/s1600/102020111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Oo9Y96EPckM/U_6dOisA9vI/AAAAAAAAGfQ/ZyvUzuIVQF8/s1600/102020111.jpg" height="400" width="392" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I don't drink pots of coffee (oh, how I wish I could), instead I just do my little Keurig pod everyday and try to be happy with one cup. However, that one-cup-at-a-time setup is not very convenient when I need to make a large quantity for the punch.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IFFIh3aUdlI/U_6dXb2H3pI/AAAAAAAAGfY/yxNbk1mZu0g/s1600/140827b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IFFIh3aUdlI/U_6dXb2H3pI/AAAAAAAAGfY/yxNbk1mZu0g/s1600/140827b.jpg" height="400" width="252" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Imagine how excited I was when I came across this very cool percolator at Goodwill for $2.99! Lucky me, people don't know how to use percolators anymore (including me), so it was a steal. However, I looked up the instructions, and<i> <span style="color: purple;">Let me </span></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="color: purple;">tell you</span></i> - it is so convenient being able to make 35 cups of coffee at one time. <i>(Lol, on a side note - I didn't realize just how reflective this percolator was when I snapped this picture. Yep, me in my jammies! Sorry.)</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EfmzkCX0GaU/U_6ddJ2qorI/AAAAAAAAGfg/MofYJBeyfyM/s1600/140827a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EfmzkCX0GaU/U_6ddJ2qorI/AAAAAAAAGfg/MofYJBeyfyM/s1600/140827a.jpg" height="400" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have no idea how old this pot is, but I recently found the above picture in a current magazine. Mine looks as if it has never been used, so I'm wondering if it is a new style. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Anyone know?</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>PS - the knob was missing off of mine, but I found a cabinet knob that fit perfectly. Blingy is better anyway! </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">I don't really know what to say about this printable except - <i>it really needs no explanation.</i> Either it makes a lot of sense to you, or it makes no sense at all.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have a couple people in my life that this will make a lot of sense to - <i>and that's all I can say on the subject!</i></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I saw this quote on a stamp at Hobby Lobby last week and decided I wanted to frame it. If you would like to frame this also, just click on the picture and save it to your computer. Then you can go into <i>Word</i>, insert a picture into your document, enlarge it - and print. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p6QPpW3c5Q0/U_p3RkQTSnI/AAAAAAAAGeI/NZ7whwpJv50/s1600/140823e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p6QPpW3c5Q0/U_p3RkQTSnI/AAAAAAAAGeI/NZ7whwpJv50/s1600/140823e.jpg" height="320" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You can also go to <a href="http://www.picmonkey.com/">www.picmonkey.com </a>and pull it up to edit it. If you click on the <i>magic wand icon</i> on the left and then select <i>TINT</i> - you can actually change its color to fit your decor.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Or perhaps you might like to select <i>OMBRE</i> and have a sign that looks more like this. Just be sure to save it back to your computer with a new name.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I'd like to share a lovely breed of rose with you today </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">- the <i><span style="color: #c27ba0;">Sugar Moon Tea Rose.</span></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gkeOIPMRxSw/U_eUL168F0I/AAAAAAAAGdg/S-1_ItRKk6Y/s1600/140822a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gkeOIPMRxSw/U_eUL168F0I/AAAAAAAAGdg/S-1_ItRKk6Y/s1600/140822a.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To me, it is the most angelic of roses. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The petals are such a pure pearly white, </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">enhanced even more by their blush pink edges.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i1WzXX9Z_ug/U_eUSQ-lhuI/AAAAAAAAGdo/ruLcYyc_Pa0/s1600/140822b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i1WzXX9Z_ug/U_eUSQ-lhuI/AAAAAAAAGdo/ruLcYyc_Pa0/s1600/140822b.jpg" height="323" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Even more delightful is their smell. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">When you bury you nose in, </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">this rose does not disappoint.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: large;">My favorite! </span></i></div>
